Watford vs Stoke City match preview.

Watford face Stoke City today at Vicarage Road, with the Hornets looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Whilst the Hornets were victorious last weekend in the FA Cup over Arsenal, in what was a superb performance from the Golden Boys, Quique Sanchez Flores' haven't tasted victory in the Premier League in three games.

As a result, Watford have slipped down to 14th in the table, although a win over Mark Hughes' Stoke at the weekend could take them back up to 10th.

The Potters on the other hand, currently sit in 9th position in what has been another excellent season under the stewardship of Mark Hughes.

During the match earlier this season at the Britannia Stadium, it was Watford who ran out 2-0 winners.

Troy Deeney and Almen Abdi scored the all-important goals for the Hornets on that day, in what was a superb performance from Quique Sanchez Flores' men.

Stoke are having another excellent season under Mark Hughes. With the club comfortably sitting in the top half of the table in 9th place, the Potters could certainly rival the teams above them for a European spot and
who would back against them?

Their free flowing an attacking style of football has seen Mark Hughes' men record victories over Manchester United and Chelsea amongst others and on their day they can beat anyone.

The key player for the Potters today will undoubtedly be attacking midfielder, Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrian midfielder has been in superb form this season, having notched 11 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for Mark Hughes' men.

The 26-year-old is finally fulfilling his potential, with his skilful and powerful runs causing defences all kinds of problems. He's added goals to his game this season as well, frequently making late runs into the box to fire an effort at goal.

Today's match against the Potters will certainly be another tough test for the Golden Boys. Stoke are having another good season under Mark Hughes and have played some excellent football in the process.

They will undoubtedly be a tough nut to crack and will be coming to Vicarage Road with the aim of bouncing back from last week's defeat to Southampton. 

The Hornets were fantastic against Arsenal last weekend in the FA Cup and they will have to put a similar performance today if they wish to claim those important three points.

Team news

For Watford, Jose Jurado is fully fit after recovering from an injury. Odion Ighalo will have a late fitness check, whilst Miguel Britos is set to miss out due to a calf problem. Joel Ekstrand and Tommie Hoban are also ruled out.

For Stoke, the Potters are set to be without Ryan Shawcross and Xherdan Shaqiri. Full back Erik Pieters is a doubt.
