Referees for first two matches announced.

The referees for Watford’s first two matches of the 2014/15 season have been announced by The Football League.

For this weekend’s opening Sky Bet Championship match against Bolton at Vicarage Road, the referee will be East Yorkshire official Carl Boyeson. Boyeson refereed the Hornets once last season which came in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth where the East Yorkshire official sent off Hornets defender Gabriele Angella instead of Fitz Hall and gave Bournemouth two penalties, one of which looked wrong as Marc Pugh seemed to dive.  Boyeson refereed 32 matches last season, 12 of which in the Championship, handing out 91 yellow cards and 4 red.

For next Tuesday’s Capital One Cup round 1 match against Stevenage at Broadhall Way, the referee will be Surry referee Carl Berry. Berry last refereed the Hornets during the 2012/13 season when he officiated the Hornets 2-0 defeat to Bristol City at Ashton Gate. This will be the third time that Berry has refereed the Hornets since joining the football league list. Berry officiated 18 games last season handing out 59 yellow cards.
