Referees for Birmingham and Bristol Rovers matches announced.
The referees for this weekends first championship match of the season against Birmingham and Tuedays Capital One Cup Tie against Bristol Rovers has been confirmed. For the Birmingham match this weekend the man in the middle will be Lancashire referee Paul Tierney. Tierney refereed the Hornets twice last season which came in the 5-1 defeat to Derby in September and the 1-1 draw with Wolves in March. Last season he officiated 36 matches across the football league handing out 71 yellow cards, 4 red and 10 penalties.
For Tuesday nights Capital One Cup first round match against Bristol Rovers, the referee will be Surrey referee Darren Sheldrake. Sheldrake refereed the Hornets twice last season which came in the 2-2 draw with Bristol City in September and the 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in March. He officiated 31 games last season across the football league handing out 110 yellow cards and 3 red as well as handing out 8 penalties. For the full appointments please see below:
