Nottingham Forest 0 - 3 Watford Match Report.
Another Brace from Matej Vydra and a goal from Troy Deeney was enough to seal another away victory for the Hornets lifting them up to 4th in the Championship Table. This was Vydra's 5th Brace in his last 5 starts for the Hornets taking his tally to 18 goals for the season. Deen yand Vydra's partnership blossomed again and Gianfranco Zola will also be pleased about a first away clean sheet of the season. The Victory takes Watford up to 4th in the table only 1 point away from second now. The vicotry and goals confirms the stat that Watford have the best record away from home and the 3 goals makes this years tally of goals EQUAL to the whole of last season. Zola made only one change to the Hornets side. Craig Forsyth was replaced by Daniel Pudil. Jonathan Hogg returned on the bench for the Hornets as well after recovering from his Hamstring injury. Otherwise it was the same side that faced Huddersfield Town. Forest also made one change. Dexter Blackstock replaced Radoslav Majewski and new signing Darius Henderson started on the bench. The first 15 minutes of the match were dull and boring with neither team getting a firm hold in the game. This was possibly due to the pitch conditions. But then the first chance of the match came for the Hornets. Troy Deeney turned Danny Collins and his swerving shot went wide of Karl Darlows goal. Then in the 20th minute, Watford took the lead. Deeney scampered past Forest's full back and rolled the ball back to 16 goal striker Matej Vydra who was left all alone in the Forest box. The Czech easily rolled the ball into the net making it 1-0 to the Hornets and taking his tally to the season to 17. You just cannot leave Vydra in so much space as he is so deadly inside the penalty area. Watford nearly had a second soon after but a goal was only prevented by some brilliant Forest defending. A corner was flicked on by Troy Deeney whch found Nyron Nosworthy. His effort was cleared off the line by the forest defender. The ball bounced out only s far as Joel Ekstrand and his stinging shot was yet again blocked on the line. The ball did come back for Ekstrand but his next effort went well wide. Watford then goal a second in the 34th minute. Manuel Almunia was put under pressure by Blackstock and Sharp meaning that he dropped the ball. Somehow, the hornets defence cleared. Then Cristian Battochio passed the ball to Nathaniel Chalobah who took a touch before playing a delightful through ball to Vydra who beat the offside trap. The Czech striker went racing through and unselfishly passed the ball across to Troy Deeney who made no mistake and rolled the ball into the net to make it 12 goals for the striker. This goal equalled his tally from last season. Vydra nearly doubled his tally before half time. A Daniel Pudil cross hit the head of Danny Collins taking the ball away from Vydra. Dexter Blackstock really should have pulled a goal back for Forest when he was found unmarked in the area and his shot was drilled wastefully wide.
Half Time - 0-2
Watford nearly added a thrid in the 49th minute and it would have been a freakish goal. Cristian Battochio (Fresh from his first goal in a hornets shirt last weekend) played in a Cross which swerved and ended up hitting the crossbar of Karl Darlow's goal. Then, Vydra hit a effort from a free kick into the side netting. Then after another counter attack, Troy Deeney baled over the bar. Fitz Hall then replaced Marco Cassetti in the 70th minute meaning that Lloyd Doyley moved to Wing Back. 2 minutes later and Watford had their 3rd and it was that man Vydra at it again. After a fantastic throughball by Almen Abdi, Vydra managed to lift the ball over the on rushing Karl Darlow and into the roof of the net sending the Watford fans behind the goal in to mania. This was the Czech striker's 18th goal of the season. Then Jonathan Hogg made his return in the 78th minute replacing Cristian Battochio. Mark Yeates then came on for Nathaniel Chalobah in the 85th minute. Forest nearly got one back in the final minute when Manuel Almunia saved Billy Sharps effort. But that was that. Watford made it another win which moves them up to 4th in the Championship.
