Motta joins Watford and Guedioura returns!

Watford have added two new additions to their squad this week, by signing Italian defender Marco Motta, and sealing the return of Adlene Guedioura on an emergency loan deal.


Motta had been a free agent, after being released from Italian giants Juventus earlier this month, and he signed for Watford on Thursday however it remains to be seen how long he will be with the Golden Boys after the club refused to confirm the length of the 28 year olds contract to the Watford Observer.


Motta is a 28 year old Italian defender who can play at either right or left wing back, and has been capped by Italy at international level, and also represented his country in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.


The 28 year old started his career at Atlanta where he impressed during his debut season after making 22 appearances, which resulted in a move to Udinese. Motta was on the fringes of the first team at Udinese during his first two seasons at the club, which resulted in a loan spell at Torino in the 2007/08 season.


However on his return to Udinese, Motta was a first team regular making 27 appearances, featuring for the fellow Pozzo owned club during the Europa League and Champions League qualifiers.


Motta then spent the 2009/10 season with Roma where he was a first team regular, which resulted him in joining Juventus the following season, initially on loan. The deal was made permanent the following summer after he established himself as a first team regular, however Motta quickly slipped down the rankings and he spent the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons on loan with Catania and Bologna.


He returned to the Old Lady in 2013 but made just 2 more appearance for the club before joining Genoa in January 2014.


Upon his return to Juventus, Motta didn’t make another appearance, and he was consequently released earlier this month. It was revealed yesterday lunchtime, by the Watford Observer, that Motta was set to sign for Watford FC and this was confirmed by the Hornets yesterday afternoon. It remains to be seen how long he will remain with the Golden Boys.



More transfer news this afternoon surfaced, with the announcement that Watford had secured the return of Crystal Palace midfielder Adlene Guedioura on an emergency loan.


Guedioura spent just over a month with the Golden Boys earlier this season, making 6 appearances and scoring 2 goals, both of which coming against Cardiff.


He returned to Crystal Palace where he made 4 appearances under new manager Alan Pardew, however has slipped down the rankings and has been allowed to re-join the Hornets, on an emergency loan which will last till the 25th April.


The Algerian midfielder is unavailable to feature for the Golden Boys tomorrow against Leeds United, however he is eligible to play for the Hornets on Tuesday night vs Fulham.
