Brighton 1 - 3 Watford Match Report.
Watford beat Brighton 3-1 at the Amex stadium thanks to goals from Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra in front of the Sky Sports Cameras. The Hornets were dominanat in the second half and their passing and performance were key in the match. Some of Watford's play was breathtaking at times causing the Brighton Defence all sorts of problems. Matej Vydra was one of the star performers as his pace scared defenders from making a tackle. Vydra got a brace in the match scoring 2 goals in 2 minutes. Gianfranco Zola picked the side that would have played Bristol City. Ikechi Anya replaced the Suspended Marco Cassetti and Fernando Forestieri returned on the bench for the hornets. Brighton were without former Hornet Will Buckley who was out with a suspected hamstring injury. Brighton started the brightest in the first 15 minutes with Andrea Orlandi and Andrew Crofts both spurning chances. In between those, Daniel Pudil headered wide from a corner when he maybe should have done better. Kazenga Lua Lua was Brighton's danger man during the match and terrosied Ikechi Anya in the 19th minute when he cut in a drove a shot which Manuel Almunia had to save. Tomasz Kuszczak had to save Troy Deeney's effort in the 27th minute. Then after some brilliant one touch play from the hornets, Jonathan Hogg's tame effort was easily saved by the Polish Keeper who was on loan at Vicarage Road at the back end of last season. Watford were dealt a blow in the 42nd Minute when the impressive Fitz Hall limped off with a suspected Hamstring injury. Neuton came on to replace him. The Orns had two good chances in first half stoppage time. After some good play between Deeney and Vydra, Vydra drove into the area but his shot was tipped around the post by Kuszczak. Then from an Almen Abdi cross, Troy Deeney was found unmarked in the box but he could only head his chance wide.
Half Time - 0-0
Watford started the second half the brighter and were ahead in the 54th minute. Daniel Pudil found Troy Deeney who took a touch before hammering the ball home to net his 10th goal of the season to the delight of the travelling Watford Fans. Brighton nearly scored imeadiatly after when Adam El Abd had a free header in the Orns 6 yard box but could only glace wide when he should have done better. Brighton were awarded a penalty in the 64th Minute and it was all down to Watford's own making. Manuel Almunia came out and collected the ball but spilled it. Tommie Hoban didnt relise that Lua Lua was behind him and the former Newcastle player got to the ball before Hoban who tripped Lua Lua over. Referee Oliver Langford had no option but to point to the spot. David Lopez ran up and hammered the ball into the roof of the net to make it 1-1. But two minutes later and Watford were ahead again. Matej Vydra picked up the ball and shot from 25 yards. The shot had a big deflection off of Adam El Abd meaning that the ball looped over the stranded Kuszczak in the the Brighton goal to make it 2-1 to the hornets. This was Vydra's 11th goal of the season. He didnt have long to wait for his 12th thought. To be precise 1 minute. Nathaniel Chalobah cleared the ball when the horents were under pressure. The ball found its way to Deeney who played a through ball to Vydra. El Abd didnt realise how much place Vydra has got and the Czech Striker wizzed past him to go One On One with Kuzsczak. The Watford fans just knew that Vydra would score and he didnt let them down calmly rollling the ball into the net for Watford's 3rd and Vydra's Second Of the night. Vydra is just so cool in those situations and has not missed when he has gone One On One this season. Vydra now has 12 goals for the season. The Sky Sports commentatorts said "the goal was counter attacking football at its best" and "If Real Madrid or Barcelona scored a goal like this they would be waxing lyrical". Geoffrey Mujangi Bia then came on for Ikechi Anya in the 74th minute. Cristian Battochio then came on for Almen Abdi in the 84th minute. Will Hoskins bought out a good save from Almunia in the dying minutes but Watford run out comfortable winners.
