Watford vs Manchester United Match Preview.

If there is one team that is instantly associated with the Premier League, Manchester United is it.

Due to their success in England and in European competitions in the past, the Red Devils are recognised all over the planet, meaning that they possess one of the largest fan bases in the world.

This Saturday, Louis Van Gaal's side face a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford FC, in a match that will be televised on BT Sport.

Watford will undoubtedly go into the match as underdogs considering United's stature and league position, but Quique Sanchez Flores' men will be boosted by the news that Louis Van Gaal will be without five key players for the fixture. More on that later.

The Hornets will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Leicester City before the international break, which was settled by two goalkeeping errors from Heurelho Gomes. Before Gomes' first error, the game was even, and going a goal down really knocked the wind out of the Hornets' sail.

Despite that defeat, Watford remain in 11th position in the table and have a healthy eight-point gap over the bottom three. Manchester United, on the other hand, come into the match in fourth place and the Red Devils are just two points behind leaders, Manchester City.

The enigmatic Louis Van Gaal is the boss at Old Trafford and he has done a decent job so far. Last season, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager, guided the club to a fourth place finish.

In the summer, Van Gaal spent big, bringing the likes of Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Anthony Martial to Old Trafford amongst others and the latter has hit the ground running, scoring 5 goals in 14 appearances so far.

That spending spree has undoubtedly paid off, with United currently sitting in fourth place in the table and they look set to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League, despite some fans grumbling about the way that the Red Devils are playing at the moment.

So looking ahead to Saturday's match, most will predict it to be in a walk in the park for Manchester United. They will look at the Red Devils' formidable record against the Hornets, having won all of the previous ten encounters between the two sides and the quality of players that Louis Van Gaal possesses.

However, Watford have shown that they can give anyone a run for their money on their day. In each of their matches this season, the Hornets have looked right at home in the Premier League.

If the Golden Boys can perform like they did against West Ham and for 60 minutes against Arsenal, Quique Sanchez Flores' side will have a great chance of walking away from this weekend's game with a point or three.
