Watford vs Brentford Match Preview.
Brentford are the visitors to Vicarage Road tonight in the Sky Bet Championship in what will be Billy McKinlay’s first match as Watford Head Coach. The Hornets will be looking to get back to winning ways after drawing their previous matches against Bournemouth and BlackburBn. The Golden Boys lie in 4th position in the League table and could move up into the automatic promotion positions if they win and other results go their way. Meanwhile Brentford have had a decent start to the season and currently sit in 12th position in the table with 14 points.
Brentford achieved promotion to the Championship last season after an impressive year in League 1 where they finished in 2nd place. Mark Warburton took over as manager midway through the season after Uwe Rosler left to become Wigan manager. The change of manager did not affect the Bee’s form and the club stormed to promotion.
Mark Warburton is the manager of the club and he did an excellent job after taking over at the midway point last season. The former city trader and Watford coach and assistant academy manager was sporting director at Brentford but after Uwe Rosler left to take over at Wigan, the 52 year old was placed in charge on a deal until the end of the season. After guiding the team to promotion, he penned a one year rolling contract.
The key player for Brentford tonight will be winger Moses Odubajo. The winger was signed by the Bee’s over the summer for a seven figure sum. Odubajo has made a decent start to the season, scoring 2 goals in 6 appearances and his pace and trickery could cause the Hornets defence all sort of problems.
Brentford cannot be underestimated this evening and it will be another difficult game in the Championship this evening.
For Watford, Almen Abdi returns from injury after missing the clubs 2-2 draw with Blackburn on the weekend. However, Gabriele Angella, Keith Andrews, Troy Deeney and Gabriel Tamas are all out.
For Brentford, former Hornet Richard Lee is out. The goalkeeper is joined on the sidelines by Nico Yennaris and Sam Saunders who are also injured.
