Rotherham vs Watford Match Preview.
Watford travel to the New York Stadium tomorrow to play Rotherham United in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Hornets looking to get back to winning ways after Saturday’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Norwich City. Joel Ekstrand was sent off for the Hornets for allegedly elbowing Nathan Redmond two minutes into the match, which ruined Watford’s pre match tactics and chances of any points. Norwich took advantage of their one man advantage, with Bradley Johnson, Lewis Grabban and Alex Tettey condemning the Hornets to their first defeat of the season.
Rotherham are the Golden Boy’s opposition tomorrow and this will be the first time that the two teams have met in nearly ten years. The Miller’s were promoted from League One last season via the Play Offs, with the club beating Leyton Orient 4-3 on penalties, to seal promotion to the Championship.
The Millers achieved their first win of the season at the weekend, with Ryan Hall scoring the only goal of the game, to seal a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Steve Evans is the manager of Rotherham and the former Crawley boss has guided the club to back to back promotions in the past two seasons. After joining the club in April 2012, Evans has masterminded the club’s recent success and has added significantly to his squad this summer. The Glaswegian has added seasoned professionals like Paul Green and Kirk Broadfoot as well as former Aston Villa man Jordan Bowery, former Hornet Scott Loach, striker Matt Derbyshire and Paul Taylor.
The Millers danger man tomorrow will be Kieran Agard. The 24 year old can plays as a midfielder or a striker and the former Everton and Yeovil Town man scored 26 goals last season for the club as they achieved promotion to the Championship.
Rotherham will provide a stern test for the Hornets tomorrow and Watford will have to be at their best in order to get back to winning ways.
For Rotherham, the Millers are hoping that Saturday’s match winner Ryan Hall will recover in time to play against the Golden Boys. Frazer Richardson, Rob Milson and Mark Bradley are all out.
For Watford, Ikechi Anya and Lloyd Doyley have recovered from their respective injuries and are fit enough to play against the Millers. Centre back serves the first match of his three game ban after being sent off at the weekend whilst Craig Cathcart, Mathias Ranegie, Uche Ikpeazu and Bernard Mensah are all injured.
