Referees for next three matches announced.
The referees for Watford's games across the Christmas Period against Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff have all been announced by the Football League.
The referee for this Saturday's match against Reading, will be Surrey based official Gavin Ward. Ward officiated the Hornets once last season, which came in the Golden Boys 3-0 home victory over Leeds United in April.
So far this season, Ward has refereed 17 matches across The Football League as well as cup competitions, handing out 65 yellow cards and 2 red. The majority of these matches have been in League 2, and this will only be Wards 4th Championship game of the season.
The referee for Watford’s Boxing Day match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which will be televised on Sky Sports, will be Oxford based official Graham Scott.
Scott refereed the Hornets once last season, which came in the Golden Boys 1-1 away draw with Ipswich in what was Giuseppe Sannino’s first game as manager. He refereed this fixture two seasons ago when Wolves were last in the Championship, overseeing a 2-1 victory for the Golden Boys thanks to goals from Nathaniel Chalobah and Troy Deeney. Scott sent off Wolves defender Christophe Berra that day for pulling back Deeney in the first half.
This season, Scott has officiated 21 matches, one of those coming in the Premier League, and has handed out 68 yellow cards and one red.
For Watford’s away match against Cardiff City on Sunday 28th December 2014, the referee will be Warwickshire official Stuart Attwell.
Attwell has history with Watford, having been the referee who awarded the controversial ghost goal against Reading back in the 2008/09 season. Before last season, that had been his only ever Watford match, but the Warwickshire official returned to Vicarage Road for the first time since that notorious incident last season, when he officiated the Golden Boys 1-1 draw with Burnley.
Attwell has officiated 18 games this season across the Football League and has also refereed a game in the Premier League, handing out 48 yellow cards and 2 red.
