Nottingham Forset vs Watford Match Preview.

15/04/2015 12:00

Watford face another tough test tonight in the Sky Bet Championship as they travel to the City Ground to play Nottingham Forest, with the pressure well and truly on the Hornets to keep the pressure up on their promotion
rivals considering that they all achieved victories last night.

Due to results last night, Watford have slipped down to 4th position in the table, and if the Hornet's secure victory by three goals or more, they will move up to 2nd place in the table. Whereas, Nottingham Forest currently sit in 10th position in the table, in what has been a stop-start season for the Reds.

During the match earlier this season at Vicarage Road, Watford were pegged back twice by two Michail Antonio strikes which resulted in the match ending 2-2. Odion Ighalo opened the scoring for the Hornets, before Antonio
quickly levelled things up. Matej Vydra converted a second half penalty before Antonio pegged the Hornets back once again later on in the second half with a thumping header.

Nottingham Forest are managed by former Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman who has steadied the ship and improved the Reds fortunes during his short time as manager. Freedman was appointed as Forest boss on the 1st February after club legend Stuart Pearce was sacked following a dismal run of form. Forest were the early pace setters in the Championship, leading the division in both August and September. However, under Pearce, results started to peter out, and Forest slid down the table. Under Dougie Freedman, Forest have been impressive and they were touted as outsiders for the play offs a few weeks ago. But a run of 2 wins in their last seven has seen this charge halted which has meant that the Midlands
club will be playing Championship football next season.

The key player for Nottingham Forest tonight will be winger Michail Antonio. Signed ahead of the 2014/15 season from Sheffield Wednesday for a seven figure fee, Antonio has flourished for the Reds this season and is
the clubs second top scorer with 13 goals. His quick and direct play has caused Championship defences all kinds of problems, and the former Sheffield Wednesday man has proved to be a game changer on his day. The 25 year old played a key part in the match earlier this season between the two sides, as he netted both
of Forest's goals during the 2-2 draw.

Although Forest may be on a poor run and have nothing to play for, tonight will certainly be another tough test for the Hornets. It is crucial that the Golden Boys do the business in order to keep up the pressure
on promotion rivals AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City and Middlesbrough. Watford will have to be at their best in order to secure victory tonight and any slip up could severely dent the Hornets promotion ambitions.
