Norwich City vs Watford Match Preview.

15/08/2014 17:37

Watford head to Carrow Road tomorrow, to play Norwich City, in what will be the Hornets first away game of the Sky Bet Championship season. Watford started off their Championship season in style, with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Bolton. Whilst Norwich slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Wolves, in their first match back in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League back in May.

The Hornets were defeated in extra time by the Canaries last season in the third round of the Capital One Cup at Vicarage Road, with Gary Hooper scoring the winner late on in extra time to seal a 2-3 win. When Norwich were last in the Championship during the 2010/11 season, Watford ran out 3-2 winners at Carrow Road on the opening day of the season, whilst both teams played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road later on in that season.

Neil Adams is the manager of Norwich City after being handed the role permanently in May 2014. The 48 year old was appointed as caretaker manager of the Canaries in April 2014, after Chris Hughton was sacked. However the former under 18s manager could not prevent the East Anglia club being relegated to the Championship.

A brief look at the Canaries squad and the clubs squad is littered with Premier League talent. The Canaries have managed to hang on to England goalkeeper John Ruddy, whilst Norwich squad also contains the likes Sebastian Bassong, Leroy Fer, Wes Hoolahan and proven Championship players like Lewis Grabban and Johnny Howson.

The Canaries danger man on Saturday will be English winger Nathan Redmond. Signed before the start of the 2013/14 season from Birmingham, the 20 year old proved to be a rare shining light in what was a difficult season for the club last season, making 39 appearances scoring once. A tricky winger with an abundance of pace and skills, Redmond will be a difficult customer for the Hornets defence tomorrow.

Norwich will prove to be a good test of the Hornets credentials tomorrow as the Golden Boys look to improve on their 3-0 win over Bolton and their 1-0 victory over Stevenage in the Capital One Cup. The Canaries, who are littered with Premier League talent, will prove to be a stern test for the Hornets tomorrow and one they will have to over come if they want to maintain their unbeaten start.

Team News.

For Norwich, Neil Adams will be without Martin Olsson through suspension and Johnny Howson and Gary Hooper through injury. Gary O’Neil could make his debut.

For Watford, Ikechi Anya, Craig Cathcart and Uche Ikpeazu are all ruled out through injury. Lloyd Doyley is a doubt whilst Mathias Ranegie could return.
