Millwall vs Watford Match Preview.

Watford head to the New Den tomorrow to play Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Hornets looking to build on their impressive 2-0 win over promotion rivals Middlesbrough on Monday.

With four points taken out of the last two games against Derby County and Middlesbrough, confidence has most certainly been boosted and the Hornets are now only 1 point away from 1st place Bournemouth who play Brighton this evening in the South Coast Derby.

Watford come into the game in 3rd position in the table and a win over the Lions tomorrow could propel them to the top of the division should results go their way. Millwall on the overhand have had a disastrous season with the club lounging in the relegation zone, however the club did manage to win their previous game against Charlton which has left them four points from safety.

During the match earlier this season at Vicarage Road, it was Watford who ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Matej Vydra, Daniel Tozser and Gianni Munari on what was a special Remembrance Day Match, where the Hornets wore their special black and white away kit which was the clubs colours 100 years ago and the fantastic singing section, the 1881 Movement, organised a brilliant display which happened before kick off.

The Lions are now under the stewardship of former striker Neil Harris, who took over the managerial reigns after former Crystal Palace and Blackpool boss Ian Holloway was sacked due to the club’s poor run of form which left them in the relegation zone. The Lions achieved their first win under Harris against Charlton last Friday, beating the Addicks 2-1.

The season started positively for the London club as they recorded 10 points from their first five games, leaving them in 5th position in the table. However since then, the clubs season has fizzled out, with the Lions slowly slipping down the table and in recent weeks, into the relegation zone.

Hornet’s attacker Diego Fabbrini spent a stint on loan with the Lions earlier this season and seemed to impress, however he fell down the pecking order under Harris which led to Watford  recalling the Italian and sending him out on loan again to Birmingham City until the end of the season.

The key player tomorrow for Millwall will be winger Martyn Woolford. Woolford has been a key player for the Lions from Bristol City in January 2013 and has netted for the Lions against the Hornets in the past two meetings between the two sides. The winger will be at the heart of the majority of the clubs attacks.

Despite the League table suggesting otherwise, tomorrows match will be another difficult game for the Hornets. Millwall are currently in a relegation dog fight, and a win last Friday has boosted the team’s confidence and has left them only 4 points from safety. The Lions will undoubtedly fight and scrap for every ball, so the Hornets will have to be at their best in order to secure victory.
