Manchester City 3 - 0 Watford Match Report.
Manchester City ended Watfords FA Cup adventure with a 3-0 victory over the Hornets. With a City Line up packed will all star names, the Hornets could not cope and although they tried their best, The Premier League Champions were too strong. The Watford players did not give up and the brilliant Watford fans did not stop singing all game.Carlos Tevez scored a brilliant Free Kick, Gareth Barry scored a header thanks to brilliant work from James Milner and debutant Marcos Lopez scored on his debut after the one and only Mario Balotellia has his shot parried into the path of Lopez who rolled the ball into the net. Gianfranco Zola made 6 changes to the side that lost to Charlton most of which were enforced. Manuel Almunia, Fitz Hall, Almen Abdi and Jonathan Hogg were all ruled out through injury. This opened the door for young keeper Bond to make his second start of the season and his third in a Hornets shirt. Also, Nyron Nosworthy, Lloyd Doyley and Captain John Eustace returned from injury to start. Eustace and Nosworthy have been out for a long period of time. Nosworthy returned on the bench for the Orns last week whislt Eustace was making his first appearence for 5 monthes. Neuton and Alex Geijo dropped to the bench meaning that Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra started in attack. Tommie Hoban was rested because he was 'Exhausted' according to Zola. Watford lined up in a 3-4-3 formation with Doyley, Nosworthy and Ekstrand at the back. Pudil, Eustace, Chalobah and Cassetti in midfield and Vydra, Deeney and Forestieri up front. Mancini also made three changes with Costel Pantilliomon. Sergio Aguero was ruled out through injury and was replaced by Carlos Tevez. Balottelli resumed on the bench for City after his antics in midweek. Manchester City were on top throughout the mathc and their power showed early on. Edin Dzeko turned over a Carlos Tevez cross in the first few minutes. Watford responded with a good spell of possesion which ended in Nathaniel Chalobah shooting well wide. Joel Ekstrand was lucky not to be booked by referee Phil Dowd when he unfairly barged into the back of Edin Dzeko. Matej Vydra should of maybe done better in the 12th minute when he stormed forward but instead of shooting he squared the ball for Troy Deeney and Forestieri but the move broke down. Bond made a brilliant save in the 16th minute when parried over Pablo Zabaleta's strike. But City took the lead on the 24th minute and Bond could not do anything about it. John Eusatce was booked by Phil Dowd for bringing down Tevez and the referee awarded a free kick. The Argentinian picked himself up and hammered the ball into the net with lots of pace and power. Bond could not do anything about it after impressing in the opening minutes. But 60 seconds later and Watford should have been level. Fernando Forestieri was sent through one on one with Costel Pantillimon but Forestieri lacked the composure of Matej Vydra inthese situations and he planted a sidefoot shot to near to Pantillimon who saved. In the 44th Minute City scored a deserved second. James milner crossed the ball to Gareth Barry who clinicaly nodded the ball home.
Half Time - 2-0
Neuton replaced Daniel Pudil at half time. Troy Deeney could have been sent off in the 54th minute if it werent for a leniant referee when he was late on Costel Pantillimon meaning that he challenged with his studs showing. Phil Dowd only booked the hornets striker. Then, Matej Vdyra curled a shot just wide in the 70th minute before Balotelli entered the fray taking the place of Dzeko. Bond then made another good save from a Tevez Snap shot. But Watford went straight down the other end with Marco Cassetti who pumped a low cross in to Troy Deeney who shot over. To be fair he was stretching to get to the ball. Then Lloyd Doyley headed off the with six minutes remaining after Tevez header seemed to be going in. Watford again went down the other end but Troy Deeneys effort was deflected into the side netting by City Captain Vincent Kompany. But dominanat City got a third in Added Time. Jonathan Bond made an excellent save from Mario Ballotelli's shot but the ball rolled into the path of 17 year old Debutant Marcos Lopez who side footed the ball home to make it 3-0.
