Leeds United V Watford Match Preview.

06/12/2013 16:16

Watford travel to Elland Road this weekend to play Leeds United in the Sky Bet Championship as they look to get their first week in seven games after an encouraging performance in midweek against Burnley. Leeds currently lie in 7th place whilst the Hornets lie in 12th 7 points off of the play offs. During the two games between the two sides last season, Watford ran out 6-1 winners at Elland Road in November 2012 whilst Leeds beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road on the final day season to condem Watford to the Play Off Positions. Elland Road has been a happy hunting ground for the Hornets since Leeds were promoted to the Championship. During the 2010/11 season Watford were held to a 2-2 draw whilst The Hornets gained wins during the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons with 0-2 and 1-6 victorys. Leeds manager is Brian McDermott who took over the reigns at Leeds towards the back end of last season after Neil Warnock was sacked as Manager as the Whites finished 13th in the Championship. Their star player this season has been striker Ross McCormack who is the Championships top scorer so far this season with 14 goals. McCormack was the man who ruined Watfords chances of going up via the Automatic spots after he chipped sub goalkeeper Jack Bonham in the final minute. It looks set to be a difficult task for the Hornets tomorrow.

Team News.

For Leeds, striker Dexter Blackstock and defender Scott Wooten are both out for the visit of the Hornets. Sam Byram and Stephen Warnock are pushing for recalls.

For Watford, Manuel Almunia, Josh McEachran, Ikechi Anya and Gabriele Angella all return for the Hornets. Long term absentee Alemn Abdi could be on the bench after training during the week. Lloyd Doyley, Essaid Belkalem and Tommie Hoban are all out.
