Big Striker Chris Iwelumo today joined Scunthorpe United on a one year deal for a free transfer after his contract was set to expire. Iwelumo leaves Watford after 2 years at the club. He was signed by Sean Dyche in the summer of 2011 for an undisclosed fee and went on to make 48 appearences ( 25 starts) for the Hornets scoring 5 goals. He scored 4 goals in the 2011/12 season and once this season. Iwelumo was on around the first team squad during the 2011/12 season showing glimpses towards the end of the season that he can be an effective player on his day and won the Community Ambassador award at the End Of Season Awards. Iwelumo was part of the team earlier this season and even captained the side after Martin Taylor's depearture. However, Iwelumo has not appeared for the Hornets since early October and was loaned out for most of this season to Notts County and Oldham Athletic and it was inevitable that he was going to leave at the end of the season. Iwelumo has now joined League 2 side Scunthorpe and will link up with former manager Brian Laws who signed at Burnley and will look to fire them back into League 1. Farwell Chris and good luck for the rest of your career.
