Briggs Joins Hornets
Today (Friday 1st March 2013) the Hornets signed Fulham defender Matthew Briggs on loan until the end of the season. Briggs main position is left back but he can play in central defence or as a winger. Gianfranco Zola has stated that he has signed Briggs because of all the injuries that the Hornets have at the back. But some may see it that Zola has signed him as competition for Daniel Pudil. Briggs has made 27 appearences for Fulham since he made his debut in 2007. This season he has made 8 appearances this season. He has experienced the Championship before having spent time on loan at Peterbrough last season and spent a month at Bristol City during November 2012. He also has caps for the England Under 21 side. The Englishmen is described as athletic and pacy with an eye for a pass. He is also "extremly comfortable on the ball". Briggs is not available for tonights game against Wolverhampton Wanderers but is available to play against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night. Briggs will wear the number 17 shirt.
