Birmingham V Watford Match Preview.
Watford travel to St Andrews tomorrow to play Birmingham City in the opening weekend of the Sky Bet Championship. The Hornets did the double over The Blues last year beating them 2-0 at Vicarage Road in September and thrashing them 4-0 at St Andrews in February. A minutes silence will be held before the match to commemorate former Birmingham Striker Christian Benitez who passed away earlier this week at the age of 27. A minutes applause is also to be held in the 11th minute as this is the squad number that Benitez held. Lee Clark has strengthened cash strapped Birmingham over the summer. Darren Randolph, Andrew Shinnie, Tom Adeyemi, Neil Eardley, Lee Novak, Matt Green, Shane Ferguson and Scott Allan are just a few of the names who have arrived. However, Birmingham have lost some influential players from last season with Jack Butland (End Of Loan), Curtis Davies (Hull) and Nathan Redmond (Norwich) all departing.
Birmingham will be without Marlon King after he has been told to leave and is believed to be in talks with three other championship clubs.
For Watford, Tommie Hoban and Nyron Nosworthy will be unavailable as they recover from injuries sustained last season. Joel Ekstrand will probably be on the bench as he may not be match fit yet as he returns from an injury sustained during the summer. Gabrielle Angella, Lewis McGugan, Iriney, Marco Faroni, and Diego Fabbrini all look set to make their debuts for the club.
